4 Common Complaints about Your Bathroom Plumbing

4 Common Complaints about Your Bathroom Plumbing

If you spend a lot of your time complaining about one issue or another in your bathroom or with the bathroom plumbing, then it might be time to call for help from the professionals.

Spending time in your bathroom should be relaxing. After all, it’s one of the places in your home where you can find some privacy. If you spend a lot of your time complaining about one issue or another in your bathroom or with the bathroom plumbing, then it might be time to call for help from the professionals.

The Toilet

Nothing is more maddening than a toilet that won’t stop running. If your toilet is too old, then it’s possible that the chain connecting the plunger to the flapper is worn out. Or it could be too short or too long, and the flapper won’t stay closed. That’s where that annoying sound is coming from.

Slow Drains

If the drain in the shower is slow, then take a minute to check on the drain in the sink, too. You won’t notice it, from loose hair tends to fall into the drains, whether you’re in the shower or standing at the sink shaving. Over time, the drains will clog up with hair and other debris, which means that the drains won’t be able to flush water away.

Insufficient Pressure

Another common complaint is when you don’t have enough water pressure. Most of the time this is a huge headache when you want to have a shower, but it can also be a problem when you want to wash your hands or use the water for any other reason. First, check to make sure that the water is running – your service may have been interrupted for an unexpected reason – perhaps the water main broke, or you have an inconsiderate neighbor. In any case, it could be a leak that is causing all the trouble. You won’t know for sure until you call a plumber to find out for you.

Odd Smells

Lastly, you might have to deal with odd and unpleasant smells in your bathroom plumbing. Something could be wrong with the sewer line, but it’s at a point in the line that you can’t easily see or detect what’s wrong by yourself; alternatively, you could be coming home from vacation to find the smell in all of your bathrooms. It’s possible that sewer gas has gotten trapped and needs to be released. This means that the p-trap is too dry, and you need to hydrate it to make the smells go away.
