Once you have taken care of that, it’s time to think about your faucets. Take the time to insulate them properly. Store-bought kits can help make this process much easier. By doing this, you can reduce the chances of water damage affecting your home’s plumbing during fall and winter later this year.
Drain Out the Water Heater
Cooling season is drawing to a close, and heating season is on its way. That means you’ve got to turn your attention to the heater. Draining out the heater is essential, especially if you need to remove any water that lingers in it. Your water heater will be able to run more efficiently, and ensure that you have all the hot water you want for those chilly days where a warm shower can help you chase away the cold.
Inspect the Pressure Valves
The last step is to pay attention to the pressure valves. You’ll have to take a closer look at the water heaters so that you aren’t caught off-guard if something happens — such as the tank bursting or leaking. Be careful as you pull on the lever, and if something isn’t right, then it is time to call a plumber you know will do the best job possible to guarantee that your home and family are kept safe from plumbing mishaps!
